Terms of Service

1. What RetireWell is

RetireWell is an educational retirement-planning tool. It generates projections, tax estimates, and Social Security estimates based on numbers you provide and assumptions you choose (or that we default for you). Some sections of your report, including the AI advisor's answers, are generated by an AI model.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use RetireWell.

3. Your account

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter and for keeping your account credentials (or access to the email/OAuth account you sign in with) secure. If you save a profile, it's tied to your account email — see our Privacy Policy for what we collect and how it's used.

You agree to use the app only for its intended purpose — planning your own retirement, or on behalf of someone you're authorized to plan for (e.g. a spouse) — and not to:

• Use the app to store or transmit anything unlawful, or someone else's data without their consent
• Attempt to access another user's account or data
• Interfere with or disrupt the app's operation (e.g. attempting to overload it, probing for vulnerabilities without authorization, or automating requests at a scale it isn't built for)
• Use the AI advisor to attempt to extract, manipulate, or misuse the underlying AI model

4. Third-party services

RetireWell relies on third-party services to operate — Google and Microsoft for sign-in, OpenRouter for AI-generated content, and (if you connect it) Google Drive for saving/reading files you choose. Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' own terms. We aren't responsible for the availability, accuracy, or behavior of third-party services we don't control.

5. AI-generated content

Some content in your report — narrative summaries, tax strategy write-ups, and AI advisor answers — is generated by a third-party AI model. AI-generated content can be wrong, outdated, or misleading. Treat it the same way you'd treat the rest of the app's output: a planning aid to inform your own thinking, not a substitute for professional advice.

6. No warranty

RetireWell is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including, without limitation, warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. You use it at your own risk.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RetireWell and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including financial loss, lost opportunity, or decisions made in reliance on the app's output — arising from your use of the app. This is a free, individually-operated educational tool, not a paid professional service.

8. Termination

You can stop using the app and delete your saved data at any time (see Privacy Policy — Your choices). We may suspend or terminate access to the app, including for violations of these Terms, at our discretion.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app changes. If we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
